What is a DoulaAbout Beth BrownServices providedTestimonialsContact

From the second I met Beth I felt very comfortable. She was accommodating, knowledgeable and a great listener. On the day of the birth, Beth came to our house and was so calming and reassuring. She modeled for my husband appropriate ways to comfort and support me and then let him take over.

At the hospital she advocated for us, helped us advocate for ourselves and made sure that we were well attended to. She had the right answers for me at the right times. She was reassuring but not overpowering. It was the best money we ever spent.

From the first time my husband and I interviewed Beth we knew we wanted to have her with us during the delivery of our son. Her shining personality, knowledge of the process and understanding of my desires for the birth were an endless comfort during the long three day process that brought Maverick to the world. Her caring and dedication to us surpassed the rest of an otherwise outstanding staff at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

My husband (who first thought that doulas had something to do with voodoo) will now recommend using a doula – especially Doula Beth – to any of his friends.

My husband was stationed in California with the Marine Corps and there was no guarantee he would come home before my due date. And even though I was pregnant with my fourth child, I needed somebody who was guaranteed to be there and help me through my labor whether "Dad" was there or not.

Beth did exactly that! From the moment I met her, I knew she was committed to helping me meet my goals for the labor and birth of our baby. I had wanted to have a natural childbirth, but was not sure I could go without an Epidural.
Beth guided me through my fears and provided an atmosphere of relaxation to help me attain my goal. She was my focal point, my willpower! My husband did make it home in time, and Beth was with us to see that everything went as smoothly as we had hoped it would.

I can honestly say that out of four birth experiences, my last child (who was also the largest!) was the easiest labor and delivery of all. Beth not only coached me when I started to get nervous during labor, but she also coached my husband in techniques to help me through the hardest parts. Our baby was born after five hours of intense labor, no epidural, and was nursing within minutes of being born!

Beth's knowledge and professionalism was absolutely invaluable to us. I wish I had known her for my first three!

Beth Brown surpassed all our expectations
of what a Doula provides. We found Beth’s overall approach to be one filled with joy, humor, and compassion. She was able to put Raegan into a deep state of relaxation almost from the moment she walked in our door, and effortlessly maintained that relaxed state for the next twelve hours of her labor. Through all the stages of our long labor, Beth was a guiding light that never dimmed.
